    Momentum Math provides three adaptive, norm-referenced assessments to help educators measure student mastery and student growth. Scores are vertically scaled to help educators monitor growth toward year-end proficiency as well as year-over-year.
  • Beginning-of-Year Diagnostic
    The beginning-of-year (BOY) diagnostic provides a clear picture of each student, including an end-of-year forecast. For classrooms using SuccessMaker® Math, the beginning-of-year diagnostic can also be used to place students at their just-right starting point in SuccessMaker Math.
  • Middle-of-Year Diagnostic
    The middle-of-year (MOY) diagnostic assessment monitors student growth and progress towards grade-level expectations, plus updates the student’s end-of-year forecast. In select states, Momentum Math forecasts the performance category on your state assessment.
  • End-of-Year Diagnostic
    The end-of-year (EOY) diagnostic assessment provides a final look at students’ growth and mastery of grade-level expectations.

  • What is a Quantile measure?

    A Quantile measure is a numerical representation of a student's mathematical ability. With Quantile measures, it's possible to connect students to standards and resources that are at their level as well as assess their college and career readiness. In some states, it's possible to use Quantile measures to estimate performance on state assessments.

  • Who is WestEd?

    WestEd is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, whose work is rooted in data, informed by research, and committed to equity. They have worked at the local, state, and national levels, providing research and evaluation for a wide range of clients and partners including the Smarter Balanced Assessment. This partnership provides Savvas with the benefit of an independent, highly-respected third party that ensures the assessments are unbiased and equitable.

  • How did WestEd nationally norm the Diagnostic Assessment?

    The norm referencing occurred from the National Field Testing, which took place in January 2021. Field test data was then used to assist WestEd the norm referencing. The sample was weighted to match the demographic profile of students nationally.

  • Can educators export and share Momentum Math data?

    Within Momentum Math, the Realize Reports feature allows administrators to export data via email, SFTP, or Google Drive™ for easy collaboration. You can even schedule recurring exports — daily, weekly, or monthly — to reduce the time spent on manual data pulls.
